In my house there are 6 person living; Me, Eleonora (my girlfriend), Arcangelo , Tullio , Riccardo and Paolo.
We are all Italians and we are divided in two half, the first half comes from Rome and the second half comes from Naples. Paolo is a really passionate Napoli supporter, during the last 3 months he has been so boring for us, for the Romans , all of us obviously Roma supporters.
He teased all of us saying that Napoli was stronger than Roma, watching every games in our living room, screaming all the time Napoli songs, in fact doing a lot of noisy thing .
Today, the day has come.
Today we all woke up in a very challenging mood. Everybody in the house was wearing scarf or football shirts.
At 2.00 p.m. we were all in front of the television supporting our respective team ; four people supporting Roma and four people supporting Napoli.
After few minutes everything was clear, everything was, finally, sorted out.
It was quite lovely to see Paolo, at the end of the match, on his knees cleaning our shoes with his scarf .
I know, maybe it was not the most fair thing but he was the one who wanted to bet !
It was funny when we joke them saying that probably all around the world there were houses with Roma and Napoli supporter living abroad and watching the match , now everybody knows; we’re simply stronger !

exercise 15
Last week a friend of mine offered to make me a “lesson” about the way of setting up a desk for tea and coffees during a meeting.
She is a waitress and I asked some help both to learn how to do job that for what I could be called, and to have some practice in English conversation.
She showed me in a very professional mood first all stuff and objects name, such as cups, soates, dessert plates, cutlery, jugs and many other thing that are often used in this kind of job, then she explained me how to set up the table in which these things have to be putted on.
There is a precise way of setting up things, an order that must be respected because managers are very careful about that.
I think that she’s been very kind doing this for me, think that this is not properly the job of my dreams but also think that a person that knows many things, that can have experience in many jobs, has certainly more opportunities to be free and to follow his real objectives in a more creative way, because is knowing the most that someone can find innovative and creative solutions where others can’t.

In these last days I had many time the opportunity of testing my speaking ability in many different situations. I didn’t attend any conversation club nor discussion groups with my classmates but I had to go in some offices and banks and estate agencies.
The bank is almost the best place in which one has to speak directly, quickly, in correct English and has to understand very well what the employees say.
There were many words I didn’t know of banking language, for example they often say “our commitment to you” that means that the bank has some responsibilities with the customer.
I knew that one bank is composed by its “branches”, just like a tree…and this way to see this thing is interesting! Also knew that there is a “sort code” that is different from the “account number”. Italian bank accounts have only the last one, only one code to identify an account and I really didn’t already understand why here we have two…
Also in the estate agencies they speak about very specific arguments, using a specific language.

The first time I came to London I felt confused by its speedy lifestyle but also amazed because of its beauty and groove.
I was born in Rome and I always lived there. Rome is a 5 million people city, quite big and chaotic. I’m used to live in traffic and confusion but the feeling I had here is non of a chaotic city, or better, of a tidy chaos!
London’s tube is something extraordinary for Italians…I think that if we’d add all the biggest Italian cities tube lines, the final result would be less than how many lines there are just here London!
The great number of tube lines always amazes Italians and you can surely recognize an Italian at a tube station when you see a person staring at the big map set on the wall, without saying nothing. Imagine how someone who has painted carriages for years can look at all that abundance.
Someone, and for true more than someone, says that Rome is the most beautiful city in the world. I quite agree with who says so. I think that Rome is not only beautiful but also friendly and hot sunny city ( and I really miss the sun here!!), but I came to London because it talks me about opportunity, about future, about the possibility of develop my skills in a motivating environment, that gives careers perspectives and meritocracy guarantees.
I don’t even know if that’s true or if it’s just a myth, but now I’m here and I want to take and give all the best that comes from such experience.

I like quite much reading books. When I came here in London I’ve carried with my some new books to read, every book was in Italian.
Everyone who goes to live abroad, I think, would prefer to enjoy some commodities. It was enough for me to speak English all days all day long, at work and between friends. To be honest I was enjoying at least reading in Italian.
After a while I knew other Italians and I started to go out with them, really bad thing to learn English, so I started to think a bit about what I was expecting by myself when I came here. I was remembering when, before coming, I had thought about understanding songs, watching movies, reading book, all this things without any problem.
In that period I was still a bit upside-down because of many reasons. I had just closed my bar, changed my mind about my life, about where, one day, I’ll had driven myself... It was a period of changing’s. I decided to do one more step. I was stocked in reading my books so I decided to go to a library to buy my first book in English, which it would has been The Portrait of Dorian Grey.
For sure it was not the first rime I was getting’ in a library in London but the smell was a bit different...
I started to go up and down between the tree floors before I decide the book to buy but something kept my sight.
It was just a book of famous sentences but I liked so much the first one that I decided to copy it and I still have it under the glass of my desk.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed but the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did. Than throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream.

A Marketer is the persons who decides the business, advertising, managing, etc. strategies for a firm.
In a globalized world is very important for a company to have good marketers who are able to analyze the firm, the business environment and who are able to make a business, advertising or any kind of strategy for the company.
Probably, the most controversial issue for marketers nowadays is the Credit Crunch and what is going after it for the richest economies.
For sure my subject has got to re-invent part of its strategy because of the economic changes that are going on.
To understand marketing, and who marketers does their strategies is useful to read Kotler , P. And Roberto, L. 1989 Strategic Management Free Press, New York

We live in a world in which we are dangerously influenced by media images. That is a truth.
There are a lot of surveys demonstrating how much people lifestyle, ideas and acknowledgement are intentionally influenced by media.
A survey shows that North American People watch television about 30 hours per week.
It means that media, and more specifically Television have got a really big power on peoples' mind.
However, media is a product , a product with a peculiarity: it is not only sold but it is also used to sell: products and ideas.
Media are most interested in manipulating people's mind in two fields: products and ideas choices.
Media use stereotypes to improve people interesting in stories and at the same time to suggest such products people would buy.
The most dangerous manipoulation occurs in news manipolation.
People minds are regularly influenced by media point of view presented as the truth.
From the 80's news started to become more and more superficial and manipulated.
In our days is very difficult to understand what is true and what is false from what is shown by news.
News can influence a lot of people opinion including political , economical and social issues.
It is easy to image some people, or lobbies, leading news in their interest.
